Bridging the Gap: JHR Roundtable Discussion at Africa Media Festival 2024

Journalists for Human Rights -JHR, Baraza Media Lab and the Ford Foundation hosted a roundtable discussion titled “Bridging the Gap: A Breakfast Media and Civil Society Roundtable.” The discussion brought together representatives from the media industry and civil society organizations to identify common challenges they face and collaboratively develop effective solutions. This event served as a pivotal moment for media professionals and civil society members, as it became a centrepiece of the Africa Media Festival 2024, which brought together hundreds of participants from 18 African countries and beyond, held in Nairobi, Kenya.

The roundtable discussion focused on the intersection of media and civil society engagement, providing a unique platform for storytellers, creatives, and media professionals to engage in thought-provoking dialogues. It fostered open dialogue and understanding, strengthened the relationship between these two critical sectors, and promoted a more informed and engaged society about the challenges and opportunities in this field. “Bridging the Gap: A Breakfast Media and Civil Society Roundtable” was a landmark contribution to the Festival, and its success will undoubtedly inspire future events and discussions on these topics.

JHR leadership, including Board Members, Senior Team Members, and Regional Staff, provided insights into building capacity and empowering journalists to join the roundtable and Festival.
